A newsletter and community for creatives,
small business owners & soft folks who love rituals.
Hi, I’m Yarrow.
I’m a web designer, writer & artist living on the East coast of Scotland.
I support kind people in building creative and meaningful livelihoods through web design, mentoring and tech support. My intention is to build digital strategies and community spaces that are sustainable, creative and human.
I also write & make art about ritual, enchantment & belonging in the landscape and teach classes that help folks grow their creativity.
My journey towards a creative livelihood has been beautiful, challenging and sometimes messy. I started out back in 2015 and like many people, posted on social media every single day for years. I doomscrolled, compared myself and stayed glued to my phone until I realized it just didn’t feel right anymore in 2020. I had been living alone through lockdowns and then fell spectacularly at the top of my snowy stairs on New Year’s Eve. This accident forced me to radically re-evaluate the way I was working and connecting with others.
Here is what I learned:
Our bodies are invaluable, insightful mentors
While instagram can be fun, I am actually all-in for DIY media and thoughtful long-form content
Growing a creative practice or sustainable livelihood with heart & longevity doesn’t happen overnight, but it is so, so worth it
In this space I am sharing ideas, workshops invitations and new podcast episodes for fellow creatives and small business owners who want to do things differently too. There is space for big and small questions and for meeting like-minded people here.
I’m grateful to have you here.
Love,
Yarrow
