Hi there,
a few years ago I came across this idea of defining a moment in time as a period of growth, maintenance or pivot and I still consider this an incredibly helpful concept.
This spring it really feels like the wind has caught my sail again and I am ready to grow. I know why - the third and last leg surgery is now behind me and with that I have come to the end of a 3 year chapter that was all about going slower, maintaining what I’ve built and recovering from the accident. I have learned so much from this time, perhaps more even than from periods of fast growth and much adventure. I can also see that the pruning and discerning has prepared the ground for the expansion to come, so it all makes beautiful sense in the end.
One branch of growth is the expansion of my business podcast - now called the Kind Business Podcast with a commitment to two new episodes per month and an exciting mix of interview guests to come. Here is the new blurb:
A podcast for introverts who want to build gentle & sustainable businesses that are aligned with their values and fun to work in. Subscribe to be supported in defining your own ethical marketing compass, building rock solid systems and finding the confidence you need to thrive.
I have also updated my website a little and I am offering introvert-friendly Voxer mentoring again. Returning to my brand guide was fun - interestingly, the only colour change I made was to shift the pink from a pale shade to a deeper, richer one. I think it goes to show that branding, however we might roll our eyes about it, is really just about finding a visual language that communicates who you are. It doesn’t have to be any more complicated than that.
There are new episodes to share too - I was honoured to talk to the wonderful Christi Johnson about mystical stitches. Christi’s work has helped me a lot in finding my creative voice, playing with shapes and colours and thinking about the resilience of textiles and making.
On the Kind Business podcast I talked about how much you might realistically spend on a website - a question I get a lot. Spoiler: it is totally ok to DIY, but it’s also good to view your website as your second most important business asset.
If you’d like a space to think and write about where you are right now, in growth, pivot or maintenance, I would really love to see you for the next Spark session on Sunday, all info as always below. This space is for everyone - creatives, hesitant writers, small business dreamers.
See you there,
Yarrow
P.S. I am raising my fee for tech, design & strategy days from 450 GBP to 550 GBP, but you’re welcome to book at the old rate till the end of the month - you can schedule a free feeler call here.

I am returning to offer a small amount of recorded rituals & a few local ceremonies per year here in Scotland. If you’re interested in support to celebrate a milestone, make space for grief or commit to yourself or someone else in a new way, please do reach out.
